Getting cards graded Empty Getting cards graded

Post by Ckid Wed Nov 11, 2009 1:56 pm

Thanks to all of you who responded to my first post. I need to know more about the book that was suggested that I buy. I also need some input about getting some cards graded. I have a Mickey Mantle that I believe is worth a lot of money. It looks like it just came off of the printing press. I would be very reluctant to just send it off to someone. I'd appreciate your thoughts about this. Thanks. Ckid

Hey CKid,

What year is the Mantle? Do you have a scan? We have some guys here that can help you out if they see the card, to let you know if it's worthwhile to send off for grading. The problem with a lot of Mantle's is that many are reprints. These guys will be able to tell you what you have from a scan.

If it turns out to be legit, I'd recommend SGC for grading.

I love their service. They are timely, professional, their slabs fit cards better, and they seem to make far fewer mistakes when grading (but that is my opinion). Plus they are right here in NJ, so I can drop my cards off directly for grading.

It was posted in another thread and unfortunately, it is a modern reprint.
