Recently Discovered Sets
I took a Hiatis from the Hobby from around 1996 thru 2002 and was wondering what new sets were discovered during my hiatis and more recently.
Tango Eggs were discovered right about the time I left the hobby in the middle 90's.
I also read where The Lections were discovered around 1997.
Can you think of any other previously unknown sets that were discovered in the last 10-15 years.

I was out of the hobby from 1992-2002, so about the same time frame for me too.

Pretty sure these "w555 lookalike" unc's were uncovered within the past decade or so. This Carrigan is mine, and there's also a Wagner currently on ebay (with a sky high BIN).
I know there are other recent set discoveries that just aren't coming to mind right now.

Also, weren't the E105 Mello Mints a relatively recent find? (within the past 20 years at least?)
Re: Recently Discovered Sets
they have been around since the days of Burdick. They were just really rare until major find around 1990 that provided us with huge hoard of Lajoie, Young, Knight and few other players, all without the typical center crease.

I kinda lose track of time. What do they call that?
But some of these sets could have been identified during the 1990s:
All Star Baseball Package
J=K
Baseball Bats
Orange Border
or some of boxingcardmans exhibits (I like nos. 5-10)

Re: Recently Discovered Sets
I found these cards earlier this year, while a few copies were known here and ther, I was able to date them as a 1939 issue and they should probably be titled "1939 R-Uncatalogued."
The 7 I have are the only ones known (at least to my knowledge) without a pair of staple holes at top. The staples were probably due to the method of distribution.
Anyways, they do constitute a "Newly discovered" set. There was a discussion of them on the Net54 board a while back.

Re: Recently Discovered Sets
Rhett, obviously there isn't much known about that set, but is there any reason why some cards would be colorized and others not?

Re: Recently Discovered Sets
Jay, it is a very wierd set in that although I have seen others in the set, other than the 2 uncolored ones I have (Hack and Bonura) I have never seen another "uncolored" version before. There were at least 2 printings, as I have seen another Hack with the same photo but a much closer shot, however he was "colored" similar to the Travis above.
I am not sure why mine don't have the staple holes common to every other example known, it could simply be that the store-owners normally stapled the cards to a product, but one just decided to pass them out instead.
Anyways, interesting set nonetheless.
