Just read an article about the guy that caught record breaking HR ball. He mentioned some of the offers he got. Probably the most insulting was Topps offering a meager $100k and tickets to the AS game. Unbelievable. Most people may consider the record tainted, but it's still worth a ton of money. It eventually sold for $750k+.

The other interesting note in the article was that friends and people that could get close to him were offered money by various auction houses to try and get him to consign the ball to them.

It was on the ESPN site but I can't seem to find it now. I did find the picture they used for the article but no article is linked to it.
