Scarce cards you've never seen before?
I've been wondering about what a D381 Fleischmanns Mathewson looks like. It's from 1916, so it pictures a mature Matty in the final year of his career (and it's his last card as far as I know). Given the quality of the portraits in the D381 set, I bet it's a great looking card. Has anyone ever seen one before? A scan even?
Another card I used to wonder about was the Orange Border Joss, but then a trimmed one showed up in an auction not long ago (I think it was Goodwin). It was a super closeup portrait shot - kinda "meh".
And how about you? What scarce cards that you've never seen, but are curious about?

Not a Card per se, But I might have seen an S81 Alexander 20yrs ago but can't remember what it looks like, it was at a National and I couldn't comprehend everything I was seeing. Since he doesn't Have a T3 the size and pose should be something to behold.

Hi Adam, nice to see your post. You are far more of an authority on Zeenuts than I am, but I agree that the Crawford never seems to show up. Here's a scan of one:

There were two 1920 Crawfords at the National this past week; both cards were both part of a large lot from the 1920 set.
Ben, I have seen a D381 Mathewson without coupon. Mathewson appears much older than on other cards and is wearing a white uniform and hat (Mathewson appears fatigued in the image like he just finished a game in the heat of the day).

Man, I would love to see a scan of that card if someone manages to track one down. Sounds like it has alot of personality. I'm becoming a huge fan of the D381 set.

Hi Zach, do you happen to remember the asking prices on those Crawford cards?

There's a picture of the D381 Fleischmann Matty in the Frank Slocum book, along with ~50 others from that set.
