Re: T206 Drum Ty Cobb
I was wrong last time when I said: "not trimmed" on a trimmed card.
So don't put too much faith in this:
Not Rebacked !

If I remember correctly, the card is rebacked. Hopefully Kevin Saucier will chime in as I think he knows the answer.

I'm not a front/back combo expert (I would defer to others) but I am quite positive I could tell if I had it in hand for less than five minutes. It depends on how the combo was put together, edges are key if the doctoring job is of quality. The rough sides (used to hide alterations) with the combo would be instant red flags. In this case, the ultra-rare combo should warrant an extended examination, where it would/should be detected without a problem if it's rebacked.
Although....there is one technique that is difficult, at best, to dectect. It's seamless, nice factory-cut "looking" edges, stainless with the correct thickness. Plus, it has passed the grader test. These take several days to weeks to make and uses several advanced doctoring skills.
Wow what a risk though, using a Drum and a Cobb. Have to admire the guts it took to do that.

Here's a thought...I don't know the super set combo possibilities, but does someone know if it is possible for the red Cobb to exist with a Drum back?

Didn't this exact card come up several years ago, with the conclusion being that it was rebacked? Or was that a Red Hindu Cobb?
The edge wear is a big red flag like Kevin said. Of course I can't say anything conclusive, but someone who's on the market for a rare back cobb should probably stay away from this one imo. The off-registered face is a turnoff as well.

I would think (if I could) that the chopped up edges would offer excellent identification points to establish that the card is rebacked, if it is. As such, they are not a negative; only a source of investigation. No?

Rebacked, but yes the combination is possible, and I believe there are a few copies.

yes!
For suspected rebacked cards; edges first (at all angles), then the corners (front and back). Joined layering is real tough to hide there.
For a quick lesson - http://www.alteredcards.com/rebacked.htm. Of course these only cover the basics. True tricks of the trade will never be revealed.
