T202s Q & A
Hi All,
I just wanted to let everyone know that if they have any questions about the T202 set they are free to ask and I will try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.
The T202 set is favorite set. I have a complete set and now working on getting one card of each back. I helped to author an article in Old Cardboard and have been following the set for about 7 years. The prices of the set really vary and it is not is to get a grasp of the overall pricing. There are some commons tougher than others notalways the published ones either.
The card pictured is one of the few I have found with a variation, the color of the Evers can be green or turquoise.
Once again if anyone has any questions fell free to ask.

Re: T202s Q & A
Hi Lee
I have a T202 related question. We know that the T202 and T205 sets share the majority of their images (end panels for t202's). Which T202 end panel images were not included in the T205 set? Which T205 images were not included in the T202 set?
I know Joss is one T205 image that isn't in T202, and Joe Wood is one T202 image that isn't in T205. Do you have a master list of the card images that are unique to these respective sets?

Re: T202s Q & A
The 2 players dpicted in the T202 but not T205 are Smokey Joe Wood and Ray Wolter. I think the opposite is quite numerous.

Re: T202s Q & A
Is the Birmingham HR REALLY as tough as people say it is?
Great idea for a thread Lee - we need to start one on T206 back combinations as well, as the MAJORITY of the information I see given regarding T206 backs on Net 54 is wrong and misleading to the uninformed collectors.

Birmingham's Home Run
Birmingham's Homerun is not the toughest common, I think it is a little tougher but there are definately tougher ones.
I also believe the price guides have the Matty/Devlin prices flipped around.

Re: T202s Q & A
T202, t205, s74, t330-2 all share many (70 or more) images. Other images are just common to three or less of these sets.
Is there a relationship here that I am not aware of, or is this a random occurance?

Re: T202s Q & A
T202 Folding - these are encountered:
- folded in half
- folded by end panels
- probably combinations of the two + other ways
What is the relative proportion of the different folding approaches that you have noticed, Lee?
And what are the grade/cost impacts of these?

originally, t202s were all folded the same way---
End panels folded over the center, so that they fit in a 10-pack of cigarettes. Their over 5" length has caused many different ways of folding them since they emerged from the original packs, though. The most common (and annoying) is the folded-in-the-center one. This completely ruins the great early stop-action photography (mistakes liberally covered with fake dust from the play pictured). Just think how recently stop-action photography had been invvented!

Re: T202s Q & A
Revitalizing an old thread that I realized I never answered Gil's questions. Julie covered a little of it but I want to add the following.
The cards were folded at the end panels to fit inside the package, curiously they also seemed to have been cut when folded at the end panel.
I believe the common center crease is there because when the end panels are folded in and than folded again they come close to the same size as T206s.
I believe that about 35-40% of the T202 have the center crease. The center creases have never bothered me as long as they do not detract from the center panel.
Another curiosity is the fact that some of the T202s come with a fold line in the center. I have never found an explanation or have a decent theory as to why this is.
I hope this answered all your questions 9 months later,
Lee

Re: T202s Q & A
It seems that a fold in the center would give them better stability when viewed with the cards standing up on their edge, such as on a table. Not many of our card sets can be displayed that way.
Which other ones can?
- DoublePlay
- e125
- Batter Up (kinda)
- ?
