Even though it's public knowledge who the admins are for this site, giving them a special icon and being easily identified can be a double edged sword since we are all very frequent posters. It could be viewed as somewhat oppressive that the admins are alwyas there but also a good thing in that someone is usually around and will be able to deal with anything on short notice.

Jay is obviously a man who never got a gold star on his report card in grade school.

At this stage of his life, he finally has an opportunity to get one (or more!)

And all you offer is a wrench?
Why not a monkey for that wrench?

Why penalize people for serving as administrators?
They are doing extra, as well as contributing to posts and threads.
It is not as if what is being sought is equivalent to a three star General status.
Simply recognition for contribution, the same as everyone else.

Either way is fine with me. I like having it like it is now with the stars just so everyone is at the same level. If anyone needs help from an admin, they can contact us via PM or email. If they don't know who the admins are, there's always the 'tech support' forum they can post in.

I'm assuming we can add smilies to list. Is that something that can be done thru the admin panel? I haven't played around with it much since I've spent most of my free time playing Lord of the Rings online trying to kill the Balrog.

It's back. Special ranks don't get stars (sorry Jay). I've added new icons for mods/retired mods though and they aren't too distracting.
