Ah, Chick Fewster. He of the infamous 'three men on third' incident. Love the color on those LaPresse's.

Re: August 2013 pickups
Picked up a couple Giants cabinets at the National.
First, this W600 George Browne from Scott Brockelman. Graded out to an SGC 3.5 because of the stain.

Then, as I was walking out the door, this W600 Mathewson from Bill Goodwin. Now, this has bounced around the hobby 'a lot' the past few years. It's had some restoration work up top, and the back leaves a lot to be desired. But, since nothing affected the image of Matty, and I don't want to pay the $11,000 the '3' was being offered for at the show ... this is a fantastic image. I am haunted by this image, and I like that it calls him Christopher, because hey that's my name!

I got the see the Matty. The scan doesn't do the image justice. It's looks much better and cleaner in person.
Re: August 2013 pickups
Beautiful pickup, Jamie. I love that on your cards you can always see who the player is.
I'm glad you found something at the show ... nobody gets out unscathed!

Thanks Chris. I like the photo composition. Plus, it was affordable and nice looking. Clarkson could pitch a bit, as well.

1911 Western Playground
1911 Western Playground of Bill Rapps. For more Portland Pacific Coast League material, go to http://www.sportingoregon.com/p82778321 (click "Show All" at the bottom for best viewing, and then click on any image for a better look and a description. The main gallery page can be found by clicking "All The Photos" in the upper left). I'd be delighted to hear from you if you have material right for the collection to sell or trade. Thanks!

Ty has the coolest collection of anyone on the board. Maybe not most valuable, but definitely the coolest.sabrjay wrote:Great stuff Ty!

Thank you Jamie. Not many eclectic central Washington sports collectors out there driving up hydroplane memorabilia prices, thank goodness.
Wish I had your focus, and attention to detail.

I haven't even thought about after The Monster. It's taken a lot out of me. It's the kind of set that will thrill your collecting soul and exhaust it at the same time. I'm truly beginning to appreciate its nickname. The '51 Bowman and '64 Topps sets have long lurked in my head as desirables, and I may yet give in, but not before I take a significant holiday to enjoy the completion of the T206 set.jbonie wrote:'87 Donruss!ullmandds wrote:love the western playground...never did obtain one of those when I was type collecting...and great Claxton stuff! [Mind you, I say this now, but one night I'll be surfing ebay and an irresistible starter group for 51B or 64T will present itself. I'll take the dive. I know I will. It's the curse of our disease. Maybe one day I'll recover. For now, I'm havin' fun bein' sick.]

Thanks for giving me permission to be just as helpless!LucasRiley wrote:
