Change in card collecting/views

This isn't related to pre-war cards but I do find interesting. When I first got into the hobby in 1980 there was a huge premium place on high grade, unmarked checklist. I've noticed that these cards now barely command a price above that of an ordinary common. Do pop reports show that these are not as rare once thought?

Perhaps people finally realized that paying big bucks for a checklist was dumb?

After they checked off all the cards, they had gotten the entire set and then the checklist was no longer worth anything since it wasn't needed anymore.
