I put in a massive bid on a card tonight (like 50% premium) and still got outbid. Who are these crazy people?

Apparently they were also at the silent charity auction I was at tonight!

Nothing ever goes cheap at a charity auction.

Even though Im "supposed to be" taking time away from collecting, I put in 2 bids on cards at auction last night, and much to my amazement, they both held up, almost 50% under VCP. Low grade card deals are more plentiful I suppose?

At least you got a chance to bid on the auction and it didn't get pulled. I can live with getting out bid in a fair fight.

Fine, I'll come clean. It was one of those cardboardy ones, you know, that has an image on it. And, final hint, there's a baseball player in the image.

Same here, Brandon - I'm on hiatus, but couldn't help put in a snipe on this one - it held up, for so much less than it would have previously.

No, it was for the White Sox team cabinet in SCP. Maybe it's just as well since it would've put quite a dent in my finances. But that cabinet was fantastic!

White Sox cab is an amazing piece, the photo clarity is unreal.

That CJ price is just dumb.

On the other side of the CJ spectrum, the '15 Smokey Joe in PSA 8 at $1700 was the lowest price I ever saw on that card in that grade...couple years ago that card drew over $3000 multiple times (including over $4750 in late 2009)...

Turns out that the same exact card that I wanted is now up for auction again in Lew Lipset's auction. Yet I asked Lew for an enlarged scan and when seen closely, it turns out the card is a total mess. I'm now really glad I didn't win it the first time!

(The card was the Whitney with Dog).
