The Grandy Man CAN!!!!!

Sorry to all the Yankee haters out there...BUT...what a night last night for Curtis Granderson. 2 unbelievable defensive plays...plus a key RBI double to virtually propel the Yankees into a game 5 on Thurs. His catch in the 6th(I believe it was)...was one of the most amazing catches I can recall in recent bb history! There'll be no denying the Yankees...Underdogs by all analysts estimation? Baaaahhhhh! I love postseason baseball...especially when my Yankees are involved!!!!

great game by curtis for sure. i'm still thinking the AL teams won't have enough pitching to win against phillies/brewers...especially with the NL home-field advantage.

also...how much has arod aged the last couple years? 3 seasons ago you can argue he's a legit top 5 player...now top 50? all the 'roids are catching up to him.

Aroid has been injured most of the season...I think that's his deal...between his knee and his thumb? he's not been the same. I think if he's healthy...he'll remain productive beyond most players. Top 10 player? Def not this year...but I think he can be again...if healthy!

Grandy came to play last night. I didn't think he had a chance at that second fly in the sixth. He was definitely showing off the range. Game 5 in the Bronx, go Tigers!

A-roid should DH, the roids kept him healthy but now the damage to his joints is catching up. A couple years ago 800 HR's was not a problem, now he'll be lucky to sniff Aaron.

That's the thing with steroids, it may turn into a beast, but it also puts your body right on the verge of its limits. When you exceed them, you get pretty close to total failure. Some of these guys are still trying to train the same way they did with roids. You just can't do it because the body isn't recovering as fast.

I am a Yankee hater. But I appreciate great play.

Granderson's catch in the first was not a great play. It was him recovering from very nearly bungling that catch by first going the wrong way on it. I believe it was Bill James who said something to the effect that the very best defensive players never seem to make spectacular plays because they are so good at being in position...it almost always looks easy.

That said, his catch in the 6th was fantastic and worthy of the accolades.

Blair...I agree with your assessment of Curtis's catches...and Bill James' comment mirrors what is always said about Joe D...he always made it look easy because he was always well positioned...and speediness doesn't hurt either!

As some of you know I went to Yankees fantasy camp last January...and had an incredible time. I was hoping to return this year...but it's not happening...maybe next year! I just got an email from them encouraging people to sign up as next year there will be one day where the yankees and tigers will have an "exchange" program...where 4 teams will go to the Detroit fantasy camp and 4 of Detroit's teams will go to steinbrenner field to play against the yankees campers...kinda cool!

So whatever the fate tonight...there will be 8 rematches next January!

Not so sure I agree! I think this might be a better choice than adding more wild card teams...but I think things are fine the way they are!

you are fine until the yanks lose tonight . short series have more of a luck factor involved...in longer series the better team will generally show itself. the road to the world series should be grueling and going to war like other sports, baseball have it too easy.

i'll predict all the home teams win their 5th game...or if they lose they'll cry about it being a short series

Yankees blew it, I think that game was worse than the Redsox losing their last game. Now it's on to Patriots winning super bowl.

A-rod became the first player in MLB history to end consecutive seasons for his team with a strikeout. The Yankees couldn't hit a lick with Runners in scoring position. Congrats to the Tigers

The yanks couldn't deliver the clutch hits...congrats to Detroit...and WTF...twins trade demon young and he instantly becomes mr October! But...to say the season ended worse than the red sox...is ludacrist...and any comparison to the red sox collapse makes no sense at all...take it somewhere else rs nation!

Because the sox had a great season then faltered in the end....The Yanks had a good season, rallied at the end then choked when they really needed to win a playoff game. Yankees only played 5 more games than redsox...

The Red Sox may have suffered of the greatest team embarrassments in the history of baseball. Losing in the playoffs happens all the time, five games is a crapshoot. I am sorry but I will take the Yanks season over the horrid embarrassment the Red Sox sufferes anyday, and I would never have met a Sox fan who feels otherwise - and I do live in Boston. No one wants to lose a Game 5 but that's still respectable. Quitting on your manager and drinking beer in the clubhouse is not so much.

Nonetheless this has been a great postseason already. Two epic collapses before the playoffs even begin, then three of the four series going five games, all ending in dramatic fashion. WOW, how do you follow that?
