Prewar cards with misidentified players
We were discussing this a bit in the chat the other night. We could call this thread "the Irv Young phenomenon" as he's probably the most widely known mistake, pictured on the e97/e98 cards as Cy Young. Other cards that we could think of include...
Tango Eggs Weaver (actually Tinker pose)
E104/D359 Baker (actually Seymour portrait reversed)
T3 Baker (not sure who's pictured but it's not Baker that's for sure)
Maybe Fan Craze Nichols? (doesn't look like him to me but I could be mistaken)
E92 Young (doesn't look a thing like Cy, could just be bad artwork)
Any others we can come up with? Scans would be great too.
E254 Seymour (from Rhett's site) & D359 Baker (mine) same image in reverse...

Re: Prewar cards with misidentified players
The Tango Eggs have several of these misidentified cards. Also, the Bread Cards related to Tangos have these as well. Most notibly is Flesch being misidentified as Demmitt (behind the Weaver/Tinker misidentification).

Great looking S81 Jerry.
Does this young guy on the Fan Craze card look like Kid Nichols to you? Kid's real name is "Charles" and there's only one Charles Nichols to ever play in the majors according to baseball-reference.com. "Kid" Nichols did appear in 17 games for Philadelphia in 1905 and 4 games the following year in 1906...
Here's the Fan Craze card in question next to a confirmed earlier pic of Nichols from his Boston Braves years (1890-1901):

Didn't know that, Quan. But now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense. It doesn't look like Eddie Collins - no big ears, and he's too chunky looking. Kind of an ugly card overall imo.cccc wrote:e93/e98 eddie collins...it's jimmy.
