The Tenth Inning

Anyone else watch the start of Ken Burn's Tenth Inning? Part one was tonight (Tuesday) on PBS and part 2 is tomorrow (Wednesday). As usual, great stuff from Ken Burns.

I'm really bummed I missed out on the PBS dvd blow out of Baseball. Hopefully they will have a blu-ray version coming out soon.

I thought it was really good, he touched on some of the most important things of the nineties. The Yankees, steriods, Griffey. Great interviews - though at times I thought I thought it was too many highlights. Also fun to watch Maddux again on TV. The opening was clever with the Star-spangled banner overlapping video of Dominican players.

part 2 should be interesting to see how they handle Bonds.

"They" being Ken Burns of course. I thought he did an admirable job of presenting Bonds in a fair way.

Also cool to intersperse his story through the highlight action of baseball. Of course tomorrow i have to watch the red sox. Not as sentimental about them as the Yanks, though i did root for them in 2003. People were going crazy here in Boston.

Also should proudly mention that Burns and I share the same alma mater. Here's a shout out for Hampshire College!

i'm trying to find pbs on my times warner cable. didn't see it on the schedule. i guess they're only showing at 8pm est with no repeat for west coast. read up some reviews on it. bonds will be featured like he should. can't wait when he's eligible for the hall, i'm thinking he might still get in 1st try.

I thought they handled the steroid era very well... Certainly not sympathetically. I too hope that comes out on blu-ray in time for the holiday season.
