n172 2 player cards
Does anybody know how many differentr 2 player cards are known in the n172 set
A list would be nice also., I just bought my first one and seems like it would be a nice subset to work on if there aren't a bunch of hofers..
I wouldn't care about collecting team or text variations of the same pose.
I'll post the one I got when it gets here.

Re: n172 2 player cards
Jerry, there are two different types of "2 player" cards in the Old Judge set. The first, and the more desirable ones, have both players idenified on front while the Second type only has one of the players ID'ed on front (usually the second player has subsequently been identified but not in all cases). Are you looking for a list of the first type or both?

Re: n172 2 player cards
Thanks Rhett
Both if not to much trouble or lengthy, it would be nice to know each player but wouldn't effect my buying decision any.
Rhett , do you know the other player in the Thomas Burns Card?
Thats the one I bought

Re: n172 2 player cards
Thanks for the List, Rhett
Your Card knowledge is a great asset to this board.
Looks like about 48 or so diff. poses, Probally not doable for me but it might be fun to chase a few of them.
Good Luck and thanks again

Re: n172 2 player cards
That would be a very cool subset to own. I didn't realize there were so many two player/mammal cards in the set.
Re: n172 2 player cards
I'm surprised Rhett doesn't know Whitney's dog's name.
On a more serious note, I thought that Fessenden (umpire) was unidentified on a player's card.

Re: n172 2 player cards
Rhett - Per The Washington Senators Checklist Book, put out in 1995 by DC area collector Tom Holster and which contains a listing of all the variations of all the Washington N172s (presumably, all the cards known to exist at that time), the other Washington player on #154 is Paul Hines. I have no idea if this is correct or not, as this is one of the Washington OJs that I need for my subset.

All this information is available in the Old Judge book. BTW, since you asked, the dog in Whitney with Dog, was named Midget. We found this out after the book was published.

I agree, for anybody remotely interested in Old Judges the book is invaluable. Even if you don't own an Old Judge you will find the book an interesting read.
Jay, will there be an update (with information like Midget the dog) posted anywhere online so we can print it out and add it to the book?

I too value my copy of the OJ book even though I have never owned a single OJ. An excellent resource that provides great insight into the world of Old Judges.

How does one go about acquiring an OJ book? I'd like to have one...

If "Jay" above is Jay Miller (and I think it is do to his reference to knowing the dog's name after publishing), then he is one of the authors (and may just be the person who knows the most about OJs on the planet). Contact him. If he can't help you, then let me know and I'll send you Richard Masson's email address (one of the other authors who has copies available).

Jamie-Hi! If you send Richard Masson an email he will tell you how to order the book. His email address is Richard@ponymass.com
We should do an update at some point but inertia is strong. When we do it will probably just be a spiral bound booklet. Anything more than that would not make economic sense.
