Simple question. If you had $2,000 and had to spend it on one card, what would it be and why? Not $1,995 ... but the entire $2,000!
...and before you ask ... yes I am sitting up late at night searching for something interesting to buy for that amount of money.
...and before you ask again ... no I am currently not medicated for my obsessive compulsive disorder!

Hmmm, that's a tough one. That's kind of my ballpark for my periodic extravagant purchases. Not sure if I could find either at that price - even in the SGC 10-20 range - but I think I'd like another N321 S.F. Hess or a T227 Cobb. A '14 CJ Walter Johnson might be a more reasonable goal. I wouldn't mind a sharp T206 Matty or Johnson portrait either.

If I had the 2k a few days ago, I mighta gone for this T206 Cobb red that looks pack fresh: LINK
I know it's a little off my typical type card path, but that Cobb just looks so outstanding
If I had more time to decide, I would try to track down that SGC 20 Texas Tommy Mack that I was so close to acquiring last year, or perhaps wait for a sharp T204 Ramly HOFer or a nice E97 Keeler (always liked that card).

As nice a #149 1933 Goudey Ruth as that 2K would buy.

I would go with a Goodwin Anson or Kelly. If I did spend that much on it would be worth twice as much as any other card I own.

Ben, I'm pretty sure Leon ended up w/ that Texas Tommy Mack (it went through a few hands before ending up there). I'm not sure if he has it for sale on his site or anything but should you find $2000 tomorrow that's where I'd start.

Thanks Rhett.

$2k to burn on one card...I'd upgrade my Delong Gehrig

I have a 1989 Donruss wax pack with the Griffey rookie on front. Considering this is a HOF card, unopened in a wax pack makes it invaluable.
I'll part with it for $2,000.
A similar pack sold on Ebay for about $35, but that was before the card was inducted into the Full Count HOF.

Hate to break it to you, but it was his Upper Deck card, not his Donruss card that got in so that makes the pack wrth $25

Crap. Well the other $1,975 will just about cover the PayPal fees.
To answer the question....I would go with any Ruth, Gehrig, Matty, Johnson or Cobb card.
Or just wait for something rare in REA's next auction.
More importantly, if using Ebay BIN, make sure you get the 8% Cashback from Microsoft. That's another $160 back into your pocket.

A nice looking SGC 30 or PSA 2 (or better) E93 Cobb!

if i was an investor i would buy something that i could easily flip and profit in the future...t206 EX hof'er(s), those will always be in demand. if it's quan the collector i'd prolly buy something cool like a m131 hof'er or a w600 hof'er or a cheap ramly plank.

For me an Old Judge Buck Ewing, or T206 Ty Cobb.

I would probably put the $2k towards a card I still needed on one of my sets that I"m working on. Of course, with my projects, it always seems that it's always a matter of the card being available to begin with rather than me having the means to acquire it! But I dunno, maybe something like a z11 Weaver or an 09 Obak Gandil would work for me.
