Baseball card HOF nominations
Let's see what you think are worthy card for the HOF. Cards do not need to depict HOFers. They can be coll poses or cards that you just think are great looking. Post WW2 cards allowed since there now a category for that. Please post a picture of the card you are nominating.
Cards that were already voted in:
n172 Anson in uniform
Four Base Hits Kelley
Peck & Snyder Red Stockings
t206 Wagner
t205 Joss
t210 Jackson
e90-1 Mitchell
e92 Mathewson
e92 Nadja Rebel Oakes
Baltimore News Ruth
Zeenut Fatty Arbuckle
1934 Goudey Gehrig
I much as I hate Mantle, I'll put his 1952 Topps card up since that one is pretty much a no brainer.

Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
Ben, both cards may get voted in since I won't be doing the one card per category system anymore. Since it's early, we'll get a fair number voted in but as this progresses, the number voted in will get smaller and smaller.
Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
If we're taking votes now,
YES - 1952 Topps Mantle
YES - N162 Combo of Anson and Kelly
Here are a few nominations from me:
The E90-1 (or T216) Tris Speaker. One of the most beautiful sunset background cards out there.
A little bit better front on an E90-1 Speaker (not my card or my scan, so thank you whoever owns this card):
The E92, E101, E102, E106, T216 Ty Cobb (Standing on bat). The most classic Cobb pose out there....IMO

Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
Kevin, yes, there are some very obvious omission from the first incarnation but this should rectify it.
Keep the submissions coming and in a week or so I'll open up voting.

Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
Jay, any chance you could edit your initial post to include the cards that were already inducted when you started the vintage card HOF years ago? Might clear up any confusion for those who weren't aware of the inaugural class.
Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
It was covered in another thread but easy enough to repost.
The existing cards in the HOF are now included in the original post

Scans would be nice since some people have never seen some of these cards. You do not need to break them down by category since they will no longer be used.

Can someone offer some background on the Nadja Rebel Oakes?

The Oakes is in due to Jay and many others thinking it is a beautiful card, which it is.
If we are going strictly on esthetic appeal I would vote for this one, tough to beat it...

The Oakes card is used as one of the rotating forum logos. Here is the card. The scan you see is the card that I own. You normally see this card with washed out colors. When you get everything working together, vibrant colors, perfect register, etc it's an absolutely stunning card and one of the first where the player extends beyond the border.

I can't find a scan but I am sure someone does, Cracker Jack Fred Clarke. One of the best poses on any card

I would add the 1921 Exhibit Ruth, great card with a very cool pose.

Re: Baseball card HOF nominations
I don't have a scan but would like to nominate CJ Speaker. I think it captures the era with the glove in the back pocket and nice side portrait.
By the way, anyone have one to trade or sell?
I believe this was the original version of the Clarke but was cleaned up after the accident. If I ever sell the card itis going to Lew Lipset to over hype the card and get 10X what it normally would.

I'm gonna wrap up nominations in a few days and then start the voting so if you have a card you want to see in the HOF, get it posted.
