e90-3
A set issued by American Caramel featuring Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox players. Although the set features Chicago players, most cards seem to have been distrubuted in the Northern CA area as most large finds of these cards have originated there. Key cards to the set are Chick Gandil, Hahn, Smith and the Solly Hofman variation. At this time, there is only one known example of the Hofman variation, found by myself (Jay Behrens) back in 2002. A couple of the cards are known with 2 different colored backgrounds.

Re: e90-3
I'm trying to figure out the appeal of this set and am not coming up with any answers.
-Poor player selection (limited to cubs and sox only)
-ugly looking cards (IMO)
-usually found in really low grades and OFTEN with BAD registration
So help me out here, what's the appeal of the set?
One observation about e90-3 is that the Gandil card seems to come up less often, and usually sells for big $.

Re: e90-3
The player selection isn't that bad. We are talking about the DBE Cubs with Tinkers-Evers-Chance along with Brown for HOFers and then you have Gandil and Walsh on the Sox side. The other appeal is rarity. Tough set with a popular team (Cubs) makes for a set that is in demand.
On another note, there are now at least 3 known examples of the Hofman variation.
