Koester Bread set
Just wondering why it's called "Koester Bread" when there's no identifying marks. They're blank backed and pretty much identical to E121's right? What's the difference, and how scarce are they? Scans welcome.
Koester Bread set
Ben, they are alot like e121s and nearly identical to w575-1s. The differences are subtle--slightly better quality photos and slightly thicker stock than the w575-1s. There are a couple/few players not found in the other sets, and a few players whose position is spelled out differently in the caption; e.g. Outf. vs. O.F.
The set was issued prior to the 1921 World Series between the New York teams, and features only members of those squads. There were newspaper ads for Koester Bread in east coast papers that advertised the set. There may also be an album.
Although they are scarce, the market isn't remarkably strong, probably because the differences are so subtle and maybe not all that noteworthy. Players who appear only in the set or whose captions are different will likely command more. Of course, a whole sheet of nothing but the New Yorkers would also be pretty special, like this one Lew sold awhile back:

Thanks for the info Todd. What are the "Koester only" players? Burkett is one right?
Re: Koester Bread set
Ferguson and Harper make their only appearance on a baseball card in the Koester set.

How did Todd get to make his background on his post completely green when everyone is blue?

It just means that Todd's post was "thanked". See this thread for a complete explanation.
