Should all cards missing color command premiums?
I always find it curious that some printing errors command more than others, especially the T206s. Here is an example, the boston players without red command a big premium, but if I tried to sell my Harry Howell without red I would be lucky to get a premium.
When I find my scans of the Howells I will post them.

For mainstream sets, I think anything odd that happened at the factory could lead to higher interest by collectors. it doesn't mean there "should" be a premium...there is no "right". Here's another way to look at it - let's say there are 1,000 people with 520-card T206 sets. A few of these may be upgrading their sets based on condition from time to time, but most aren't really involved in the T206 market any more. All of a sudden, an odd print card which looks cool, different and could be used as a complement to their set is offered....walla, some of those 1,000 people are now all of a sudden back in the game. Thus an increase in demand for that given card at that given time.

I think that this is really a "niche" in the collecting world but as correctly pointed out, when it happens particularly in a mainstream set there are enough people interested bc the pool is rather large for it to bring a premium. When in all reality, to perhaps 9 out of 10 collectors of that set it is worth absolutely no more.

In the 1970s these printing errors were considered junk and you couldn't give them away. Times have really changed! I personally think all cards missing any color are very neat!

Dan, I wish I could go back to the 70's when these cards were so much less epxensive!
I also personally think that the printing error/freaks are pretty cool. They seem to give us the evidence of how they were printed. Specifically the T206s are what I'm talking about. There seems to be little real evidence of the whole process other than these printer's scraps.

It definitely is a much smaller group of collectors that value these cards and those that do love them. So these cards don't come to market often. Most of them have a very low population and these factors combined are what drive the premium.
Edited to add:
Andy H you are correct. These cards give us a lot of insight into the T206 printing process.

Looking at that T206 Beck that Abravefan11 posted...
Has PSA always included "missing red ink" on the label, or is that a new thing? Do the other grading companies do that too?

I have seen PSA label "No B" on a Sweeney before. I have also seen a label stating "missing red ink" but can't remember which of the 2 companies that was from. Dan.

PSA has labeled the cards a couple of ways but I think they have settled on "Missing Red Ink" I have only seen the Sweeney graded by SGC and all I have seen say "No B"
I don't own these cards.
