Go ahead, keep your secrets.
But with you, or without you, we are going to survive 2009.
I hope that you care to help with an approach of sharing your insight for open discussion and analysis.
Rather than the treasuring of each simulated significant bit of transient trivia as an advantage which will catapult you into the significance which you feel that you have not already achieved.
So watsup regarding your 2009 plan ?
Stay tuned for my insights and opinions.

Come, disagree with me.
And you will get a reasonable rebuttal.
However, opt to ignore me, and you will achieve what you deserve, or what I deserve.

Save, Save, Save...it will be a bad 2-3 years so the best bet will be to sock away all cash in the unlikely event you lose your job. The Obama stimulus plan is ridiculous, it will create jobs but not even close to what they project.
They could have given every person who works and pays taxes $20,000 tax free cash then THAT would have started growth again.
Gil, i think that is what your post implied but i could be wrong.....

Although I'm starting to get intrigued by the Memoralbilia side of the Hobby
My Plan
Fairly simple, I hope.
Pray I can keep my job.
Pay as I go for everything, incur no debt. Continue to save money and invest.
Don't exceed my hobby related budget. If I can't pay cash or sell something to buy it, I don't need it.
Come to think of it, I don't need any of it, that's why it is a HOBBY.
Pray I can keep my job.

I am facing this thought, are you too?
"If you do not forecast cards rising in price, why not hold off on purchasing them"?

My thinking for 2009 is exactly like hrbaker's plan.
Hope that I can keep my job. So far I've been able to make it through the 10% workforce reduction.
I have outstanding debt right now, but am really trying to cut that down (paying a little extra here and there).
I'm not currently exceeding my hobby budget. I really wanted a card recently, but didn't have the funds for it, so I had to pass. For me that's a big step. Pay cash upfront, if I don't have it, sell what I need to. If I can't sell what I need to, don't buy it.
Like Mark said, the stimulus package is a joke. And the other thing that kills me, is that if you own your own home and make your regular payments on your mortgage, you kind of get punished. There are no benefits for you. You don't get a tax credit for owning a home unless you bought last year, in which I did not. I can't refinance because I've lost so much value in my house ($60,000+) and I owe way more then that. Refinancing with today's rate would save me $400 a month, which would help a lot. Then I could use that extra money to do my part to stimulate the economy.....but that's not going to happen.

I plan to continue to buy cards I want as prices return back to more affordable levels. This will, as a result, curb my spending a bit as I spend less. I am secure in my job but I'd also like to try to save more $$$ and stop filling my house with stuff!
