Rules for this area
This area is used to compile a database of scans of cards from each set and the sets basic info. Anyone can post here. Front and back scans are prefered unless the set is blank backed. Scans of different backs are encouraged. Do not start a seperate thread for each of m101-4/5 backs or other sets with multiple backs. Just add them to the thread for that set.

Re: Rules for this area
In what respects will the proposed area differ from the Old Cardboard site?

Re: Rules for this area
One of the things I would like to see is a checklist and/or the virtual set. OC rarely has a checklist of the cards in a given a set.
Re: Rules for this area
I agree Jay, that would be very good.
And I am certainly not an individual who is aware of legal considerations,
however, I think that there are potential copyright infringement considerations associated with
checklists which are not totally self generated.
The non-sports guys are wrestling with this right now.

How can someone own a checklist?
I think the thread needs to be broke down to candy, tobacco, and other categories for easier navigation. It should also be done chronilogically.

Re: Rules for this area
I think type card posts can easily be fit into the "pre-ww2 cards" category. The more categories there are the more watered down the forum becomes. We've had successful threads on type cards such as J=K candies already in the card category. I'll probably merge this into the card category shortly.
Re: Rules for this area
The reason some of us want it split out is an easy access database. The discussion should still go on in the main. The Type card area should be scans and checklists. If it's merged into the general card discussion area, the info will get buried and not as easily accessable.

I know we have had several complaints since the old Aimoo board about "clutter". Maybe this would be best at the bottom of the main page. Or, even better, simply have a link to another page!
What are other members' thoughts?
This does sound interesting and will get more members to participate and post scans (plus be a great reference source). However, we don't really need to get into the "cluttered main page" issue again here on Full Count (as we did with the Aimoo board).

Re: Rules for this area
In an effort to keep the main page as simple and uncluttered as possible, we've made the "type cards and virtual sets" category a sub-forum of the "helpful information for collectors" category. Hopefully that makes sense for everyone and is easily accessed this way.

Re: Rules for this area
This not just a type card project. We would like build virtual sets with pictures of each card from the sets, so if you have a card and you don't see it posted, go and post a scan of the card you have. This could end up being the centerpiece of the forum and something that everyone can contribute to.

Re: Rules for this area
Jay, weren't we looking to have info about the set posted along with the scans? Some of the posts so far have info/checklists in them, but others are just scans alone.
Re: Rules for this area
Yes, we want info and scans. I'm just being lazy and posting scans at the moment. If I start the set, it's easy enough for me to go back and edit it to add the checklist and info so it will be at the top of the thread for that set.
