World Series Champs & HOFers

I got to thinking the other night whether there was a World Series champion team that did not have a HOFer. I figured that maybe during WWII, but that was not the case. The weakest I could find was the 1988 Dodgers had Don Sutton on the tail end of his career. The 90 Reds might be close but I believe that Barry Larkin will get in. After the Yankee run on the late 90's the rest will be yet to be determined.

I went through all the World Series runner ups and I could only find 3 teams with No HOFers. No surprise that the 44 St. Louis Browns (they were managed by Luke Sewell) were one, the 45 Cubs and the 93 Phillies.

The World Champion '84 Tigers do not have a HOFer---yet.

It looks as if the '81 Dodgers had no HOFers either.

I am assuming that Lee is talking about on field players but I will add that both the Tigers and Dodgers had HOF managers.

I totally missed on the Tigers team. One of the greatest seasons ever and no HOFer on the field. Now for the Dodgers, I assumed Sutton was still on the team but was mistaken. Another great team that had only one was the 86 Mets. I figured there had to be one or 2 teams.

Morris should be in. Several others merit strong consideration.
