I still have 3, Speaker, Conroy and one other. I don't get how SGC grades these cards. My Speaker is a 60. I've seen several other 60s and none look as nice as mine. All of them being completely offcenter.

Other than being O/C, Ben's Evers is very crisp with NO chipping. Plus, I guess SGC took into account that the cards are usually O/C. That Speaker is the best centered example I have seen however!

SGC has never taken into account "normal" for a card, so why on this set? It would be inconsistant on
their part if they did this for e270s. The old school, harsh on grading, thought was that anything o/c so bad it's a missing a boarder cannot grade any higher than VG no matter no how sharp the corners are.

I should be getting my red border Ferris (Minneapolis) pretty soon from Fritsch Cards...I usually don't try to go that route but it was the only place I could find one. It's listed EM...I hope it's close.

Sean - If you can, please post a scan of your new one when it arrives
I forgot to mention that it's thanks to Scott that I have my trio. He sold them to me a few years ago during a very tough time for me as a collector (most know the story so I won't rehash it). I can honestly say that getting these red borders from Scott helped get me back into the hobby at a time when I thought I would never collect again.

Re: Got some E270 Red Borders?
Sean, given that it's a Fritsch EM, I wouldn't expect anything past a VG/Ex

Re: Got some E270 Red Borders?
The main problem with the centering of these cards is that while most cards have one variable in the centering of the card, the Red Borders have two. First the image itself has to be centered (even E254 Colgan's are notoriously o/c) and then the red borders that were applied later also have to be centered. If I can figure out how to post images I will post some of mine when I get a chance. The Jones posted is about as nicely centered as you are ever going to find with this issue.

That Jones is best centered red I've ever seen. As you pointed out, this is an odd issue that has two dentering issues and while my SPeaker has a full red border, which isn't common, the picture is o/c.

cool "cards"...i enjoy the o/c crescent look of the red borders better. just personal preference as i think it looks cooler than the red going all the way around evenly...

Rhett, you still working on the set? If so, how far into it are you?

Rhett, that Jones is the best centered example I have ever seen. BTW - where is your brother at these days?

E270's
Jay, I don't know if I am really working on the set, but I buy as many as I see. Right now I am just under 30 different Red Borders (1 uncatalogued). Same goes on the E270 TinTops, while I pick up as many as I can I am at around 20-25 different (a couple uncatalgued) in that set.
Scott, my brother is still around doing his thing. He has been doing a lot more private sales than ebay lately so that may be why he doesn't seem to be out there as much.

Re: Got some E270 Red Borders?
It's been a while, but this is my first pick up in a month...coming from Fritsch Cards, it was listed EM and it looks pretty good to me; no wrinkles or creases but it's OC and has some slight staining on the bottom back. I'm glad to finally have one and the red is nice.
So I puttin' in a dancing bannana!

Sean - I really like the "crescent moon" look of that Red Border myself - congrats on the pickup!
