Goodwin Observations

I just took a peek at the current Goodwin auction...ending next week...and once again...I am amazed by some prices! It seems like the 10K card is becoming very common place?!?!

Lot #13 A beautiful E98 Old Put Chance...I have never been to keen on the e98 Chance pose in general...BUT...I must say when I first saw this card I was enthralled...what an incredible image...the clarity...the color!!!!! But a potentially 10K card?!?! I just don't know anymore?!?!

What do y'all think? R u surprised by anything anymore?

For supposedly weak economy vintage cards prices seem to pretty strong in the upper echelons. This probably says more about the wealthy not struggling as much as those in the middle lower classes.

T205s still seem to weak as well as Diamond Stars and several other "popular" sets. These would probably be good cards to sit on for a few years.

it's a blue old put, which is a lil scarcer than the red. tim k. is putting together the set, he's probably going all out for it with another bidder. it's tough when you try to put together 1 of a kind cards for a set...you're trying to corner the market from others and they know it so they're gonna be sniping at you.

hell no is it a 10k card, or even a 5k card imo. i'd be surprised if it ended up above 10k. it's dangerous to collect after factory stampings

I observe that there is nothing in the auction for me to bid on. I've narrowed my collection focus (finally!), but now I'm on the sidelines more often than not!

thanks Quan...I don't know much about OP e98's...and I also think it's crazy to pay such a premium for something seemingly so easy to falsify?!

up until a few years back OPs were only found on RED backs...the first blue was discovered recently and now 3-4 more have been found with the blue back. will we see one of a kind green and orange back down the line?

Prices are kind of all over the place right now. Some sets seem fast asleep while others are taking off, especially anything unique or rare. I honestly can't make sense of it, there seems to be little rhyme or reason.

Hopefully the stock market will continue to escalate and buyers will have more money to throw into cards. I would bet that this is just the beginning...

Does anyone else think Pete should buy the T5 Jennings to compliment his E98 run?
