$100,000 club
I was just looking through an older Mile High catalog and saw that a PSA 8.5 t205 Young went for $105k. This got to wondering is $100k for a card becoming not such a big deal anymore and just how many cards have broken $100k.
The obvious answers:
t206 Wagner
t206 Plank
m101-4/5 Ruth
OJ Cal League
Balt News Ruth
t210 Jackson
e107 Wagner
e107 Matty
If an OJ Anson in uniform ever hit the open market that would easily break $100k and maybe even give a run at $1 million.
So what other cards have broken $100k?

A PSA 10 '56 Topps Mantle sold for $115K at Memory Lane.
1952 Topps Mantle PSA 9 has also broken $100K frrom Memory Lane.
And '51 Bowman Mantle SGC 96 broke $100K at Mastro.
Add T206 Cobb with Cobb back (REA 2010)

Re: $100,000 club
can we disqualify high grade low pop cards? just seems ridiculous. it's like saying a t206 plank 8 would be a million dollar card because of the grade alone.

Yes we could, but it was exactly a high grade low pop card sale that motivated Jay to post in the first place...

Re: $100,000 club
I know that if I had $100k plus to blow on a card, it would not be a high grade low pop card. I would much rather have a t210 Jackson or a Balt News Ruth than any high grade low pop card.
Re: $100,000 club
ha i missed that. my young is $150, i've never looked at it at having the potential to be 100k.
if we play that game, these cards can easily be 100k in the right grade:
w600 cobb
w600 wagner
d322 wagner
w600 mathewson
'14 cj jackson
'14 cj mathewson
toughest t206-backed cobbs, young, johnson, mathewson...

I wonder what rare back T206 will be the first to someday eclipse 100K?!?!
Obviously the t206 cobb/cobb back DOES NOT count!!!!

A high grade Cobb Uzit/Drum comes to mind first.....if that even exists.
I also think the Eddie Collins proof has 6 figure potential.

True, Quan. But $100K is still a lot of loot for a single card. I'd be interested in seeing a list of all single cards (whatever they may be) that actually motivated someone to shell out $100K+...real sales that have completed.
I bet even with the low-pop craziness, the list of different cards can't be more than 20-25...

Re: $100,000 club
If KO ever parts with the T206 Collins proof...you may be right...not really a rare back...but?!?! And I agree on the cobb/uzit/drum back as well...but would have to be psa 9/10 to garnish that kind of price...not likely in my opinion.

Re: $100,000 club
I can confirm the E107 Wagner and E107 Matty are $100k cards (and actually undervalued at that, IMO). One doesn't need to look beyond the comparison of the T206 Wagner (with its estimated pop of 75ish) and the E107 Wagner rookie card (with its estimated pop < 10) to see why.

An interesting slant might be, "What cards are $100k in just about any condition?" (short of dog-chewed)
The M101-5 Ruth drops off in lower condition (since a "2" is roughly a $20k card or so), but not much else. For their part, those two E107s have demonstrated that they are still $100k cards in "poor" condition.
