Fake for a number of reasons. Even if they were legit, they still wouldn't be worth what he said. He even got the year of the fakes wrong on the CJs!
To answer your question... I've never seen fakes with distinct paper loss like that. Beat up, bruised, burned, creased, stepped on, misled, oh yes... but never glued and removed. I'm not surprised though.

Dude should've been more careful taking them out of the 'picher' frame.
That said, the beauty of the fake scrapbook pulls on the fake cards is that there is then that much less card to make look real.
