I know this set is not a huge favorite among collectors. Tim N. tells me that the paper started offering these cards in March 1910 via a clipping in their paper. Look who is series 1 in top spot. One of my favorite cards in my collection is a very tough John Frill from Jersey city eastern league.

While alot of collectors think the pastels give this set a weird post mortem type appearance. I kinda like them and think they are undervalued. Maybe it's the use of Horner Portraits, I especially like the blue background subseries.
Mark, I remember you started a blue background set a couple years ago. How close did you get to completing it?
Right now this is my only one but will ad more in the future.

I do not see John Frill listed in series 1 nor any other series in the Sporting Life newspaper offering shown. Did I miss it, or otherwise misunderstand?

Gil, I think he was talking about Wagner being top spot in series 1

correct....i should have worded it different.

Yes, started a blue set and got to 20 out of 24 but then sold the group for a nice profit to a collector who eventually listed all in one auction which i think was goodwin.

Yes, I see how I should have read that.
Thank you, Mark.
What series is Frill in?

Frill was a minor leaguer so he might have been in 1911 or 1912. Very low pop for him since i believe he was sent down after 1909 season. Not sure though...
