Red Cross Type 1 & Type 2, what is the difference?
I was curious as to the difference in the type 1 & Type 2 Red Cross cards. If someone has scans that would be great.

Re: Red Cross Type 1 & Type 2, what is the difference?
Hey Lee,
The most obvious difference between the two Red Cross types is the caption. T215 type 1 captions have the brownish lettering like Coupon type 1's (and t206's), and T215 type 2's have the bold blue lettering like the Coupon type 2/3's. The backs for the two types are identical.
Another difference is the years they were produced. Type 1's were produced from 1910-12 and type 2's from 1912-13.
Lipset states in his guide that there are 88 known Red Cross type 1's, and 79 are known in type 2. The checklist has expanded in recent years. Old Cardboard has it at 88 type 1's and 84 type 2's. I've heard some suggest that type 1's deserve a slight premium, but IMO the two types are of approximately equal scarcity.
