A Sitdown with the Cat Man
The latest from the Catman. He comes off much better in this one than his previous efforts.
Re: A Sitdown with the Cat Man
Nothing like perpetuating myth and legend.
I really wish one of these "experts" would sack up, quit spitting out the Wagner pablum and admit no one really knows why the Wagner card was pulled. His estimate on how many Wagners exist is also the highest I've ever heard. He also failed to mentioned that Jordan cards depict cricket players who just also happen to play baseball. It's like calling a Bo Jackson football card a baseball card because Bo also played baseball.

Re: A Sitdown with the Cat Man
I know the '52 Topps Mantle is always referred to as the Mick's rookie card, but isn't his '51 Bowman his actual rookie and the Topps is not? And if so, doesn't it seem funny that he is so majestically knowledgable about the Jordan cricket (oops, I mean Baseball) cards and not about the (relatively) modern '52 Topps Mantle?

To his credit, he did say it was his Topps rookie card. Still, technically, not his rookie card because you can only be a rookie once, unless you are Kid Rock and win the Grammy for best new artist after previously releasing a half dozen or more albums.

Re: A Sitdown with the Cat Man
The Catman has posted parts 2, 3, and 4 to the interview on his youtube page. I know Quan will be watching at least
I sent Brian Cataquet an invite to Full Count. No response yet, he might just prefer to lurk though.
Despite the few factual inaccuracies, he did a good job on the interview. Card collecting originated in France huh? That's a new one.

Re: A Sitdown with the Cat Man
what's with the modern card talk? who cares about johan and jeter and arod and pujols? give me some good ole vintage steve avery or david justic or brien taylor...those were the rookie cards to have!
i wouldn't go out of my way to meet any old "legends" in this hobby, but i think i might have to make a point to shake the catman's hand one day
edited to add: ha ben i missed the part about you inviting him to this board. from an old thread on n54 i remember quite a few people didn't like his description or CS-related stuff. they were prolly just stuffy middled-aged men that likes to complain tho
