T-206 Collection
I wonder how many of you can show your entire T-206 collection in a single post????
While scanning "my collection", I noticed Cicotte was shorter than the others. I've read your comments on trimmed and altered cards. I've had these for over 20 years. Do you think Eddie was trimmed as opposed to being original?

Hi John...
Yes...Ed Cicotte looks trimmed at top, i am almost 100% sure by looking at your scans.

Re: T-206 Collection
It looks like the Cicotte is trimmed on the top, if it was miscut I doubt it would be wavy like the top border. What are the back brands?
I would guess the values are, they look to be crease free and probably both grade around VG+:
Cicotte - $25 - $30
Gandil - $75 - $100
Brown - $150 - $175

Re: T-206 Collection
I agree with what Mark and Sean have said about the top of the Cicotte. Still a very nice, collectible card that many would be happy to own. Nice trio of t206's John, what other goodies do you have in your collection?
Re: T-206 Collection
All 3 are Piedmont.
My collection is primarily of the 50s and 60s. I grew up in Pittsburgh watching Clemente from the right field stands, so most of my focus has been on Clemente, Stargell and Maz.
I'm trying to build a vintage bat collection. The desire to have a card to correspond with my bats, led me to this forum. I'm the one looking for Zinn Beck cards (who's that?). I enjoy reading everyone's posts, but I don't have much to offer.

Thanks for the feedback. Should I bother to have Cicotte graded, or would it be a waste of time and $?

Re: T-206 Collection
I would think it would be a waste for the Cicotte, the Gandil and Brown would be the best to have graded. They will be much easier to sell and should get you a few more bucks if they come back 3's or 4's.

Re: T-206 Collection
i don't see a point in getting any of them graded unless you can be sure they'd get 4s. you're out at least $30-$40 in fees and sometime buyers will pay a little more for VG+ cards thinking they could get that bump vs. just cards already in 3 holders.

Re: T-206 Collection
I agree with Quan, don't get them graded. As Lee pointed out, a raw cards that are boarderline 2/3, 3/4, etc are getting good money because people are hoping that they can submit them and get the higher grade.

Re: T-206 Collection
John, Those Are 3 nice T206s to have. I think alot of people collecting T206s would love to have those cards. An easy way tell if that top is level is to put it on a straight edge and see if any light comes through. There is a bit of a shadow on the scan so that might accoount for the wavy look. There were old timers in the hobby that trimmed cards to fit into holders.
As far as grading, it is nice for resell, nice for protection and nice for displaying especially in an SGC holders. As Quan said it will cost you $30-$40 to get the 3 graded, if you do decide to get them graded just make a note to holder AUTH if not gradable.
My T206 collection is dwindling, maybe it will fit in a couple of months. 500+ would take a while to show.

What do you mean by: "...if you do decide to get them graded just make a note to holder AUTH if not gradable."
I'm not familiar enough with the grading process.
Thanks,
John

Re: T-206 Collection
SGC will not slab cards that are deemed altered or trimmed unless you make a note on the form to holder any card as Authentic if it cannot be graded numerically.

Re: T-206 Collection
John,
Just put somewhere on the submission form something like "Please holder as "authentic" any card that does not get a numerical grade". Then they will put it in an "A" holder instead of sending it back raw. At least you get the holder. They will charge the grading fee whether they slab it or return it raw, and it is kind of nice to have the holder.
Be sure to put the note somewhere that is obvious AND generic. Like don't put it next to a particular card, or identify the card you want holdered as A. You might think a card looks altered, but it might not be. If you tie the note to a particular card you may increase the grader skepticism about that card. I put the blurb as a standard note on all of my submissions just so I at least get a holder if I missed something and a card is altered. I write it in a margin or across the part of the list that I don't use. But I don't id a card if I'm not sure about it - I just let the graders do their thing.
