I love the story of Larsen's perfect game. It's testament to the glorious strangeness of the universe. A largely ineffectual pitcher, bouncing between seven teams in a 14-season career, an overall losing record, but he throws a perfecto in the World Series. Gotta love it. And it pays, in no small way, vast tribute to my personal pick for greatest catcher of all time, Mr. Lawrence Peter Berra (and I say that as an avowed O's fan). Plus, the ump was Babe Pinelli, a character in his own right.

Seriously, a movie needs to be made about the lead-up, actual events, and post-drama of this game. It would be great stuff.

The O's had a nice run this year, and it's very exciting to see KC in the WS. Hooray for the small market teams, and not the bally-hooed A's. I find it refreshing and hope they win the championship.
