Awesome story. A very classy move on Olberman's part, and a job well done. Are there any pics of the monument before restoration?

Have no idea. I can ask John Thorn. He'll probably know.

The first two pics are of the monument in it's original state. The third pic shows the large granite baseball that replaced the missing/destroyed ball & spire in recent years. The fourth pic shows John Thorn unveiling the monument restored to it's original state.

I hope I live long enough to see pioneers from the pre-professional era like Creighton, James Whyte Davis, Duncan Curry, Doc Adams, etc. get into the HOF.

I know that Peter Nash is a controversial figure within the hobby, but I would suggest his book on the early baseball pioneers buried at Greenwood Cemetery. I think it's a must-have for anyone interested in 19th century baseball.
