1925 W504 Universal Toy & Novelty Mfg Co. Strange Issue

1925 W504 Universal Toy & Novelty Mfg Co. was issued with a Team card at the top and the individual player cards underneath as pictured.
The Brooklyn Team seems to be one of the more common ones where the Yankees and Washington teams are much tougher.

I've heard these have been reprinted a lot. Any tips on telling the real ones from the fakes?

Never seen a full sheet before. Very cool.
Re: 1925 W504 Universal Toy & Novelty Mfg Co. Strange Issue
Hi Dan,
Do you know if a full sheet of the Wash. Senators is known to exist? If not, do you know if a WaJo card is known to exist? Neither the full sheet nor the WaJo are listed in my 2011 edition of the Standard catalog of Vintage Baseball Cards. Besides WaJo, the other card I'd love to have is Sam Rice - there is a collector on the other board who has one, but no matter how hard I try, I can't get him to show any willingness to part with it - sigh!

Hi Glen! Thanks for posting!
I have never seen a reprinted one of these, that is scary as always
The originals are crudely done as you can see so reprinting may ruin them like it has the Fro Joys
I know the W512s have been reprinted and those are tough to tell

Val...you might check with Andy Cook as he was collecting/ gathering info on this set many years ago..... Glen... reprints, more accurately counterfeits, are affecting EVERY issue, not just strip cards. I haven't seen any from this series, but with the proliferation of counterfeits, in general, increasing you have to be careful with every purchase. If you still have your type collection, you'll see / feel the different types of paper used in the era. Often times the counterfeit paper is slick and the quality is too high.... The uncut sheet points out how difficult it is to find well cut cards, as the margins are completely mis-aligned

What Mark (oaks1912) is talking is very important if you have any aspirations of buying raw collections or even raw cards from dealers. There is no better teacher than actually holding raw cards in your hands. This ability is dying art as more and more cards get slabbed. I am deeply indebted to Mark and many of the other Bay Area collector/dealers that were kind enough to teach me and let me go through their cards and collections.
My advice to everyone is crack out a card now and then and familiarize yourself with how the card feels, how looks on edge, how looks with light shining off it, etc. It's the only real way to become an expert on the card.

Mark has always been around. He's a busy guy as you know, so he doesn't post often but when he does it's always very useful information and greatly appreciated.

Busy is right. Here's a thread about the work Mark is doing with the Bill Weiss collection. Believe this was shared on FC by Adam a month ago. Probably one of many projects.....

Dan, I don't recall seeing your W504 WaJo, but that doesn't mean you didn't show it to me - I have one of the world's worst memories! Thanks in advance for scanning it and showing it here - I'm sure other Board members will enjoy seeing it as well. And, please say hello to Pops for me - hope he is doing well.
Mark - Thanks for suggesting that I contact Andy Cook, who lives probably not more than a dozen miles from me "as the crow flies." I usually run into Andy at the Chantilly, VA, Shows. I'll get in touch with him.
Best to you both,
Val

Thanks for showing the Yankee sheet. Great piece.
Does anyone know if there is any rhyme or reason behind how the cards were numbered? If look, they are not sequential on the sheet.
