Pictured is Current REA catalog next to a 1995 REA Catalog.
Just thought I would show the difference. Can't remember if they had more than one auction per year back in the 90's.

this year's catalog is ridiculous in its sheer mass. feels more like a college textbook than catalog.

The catalogues are getting crazy. They definitely need to go to two auctions a year. Consigners will be happier because smaller lots won't get buried so deep and bidders don't have to wait a full year for the next auction.

The earliest REA catalogue I have is 1995, then 1997 and then a big gap to 2004. Would love to fill those gaps.

I really don't like these monstrous catalogs...they are quite hard to handle...and 2 auctions/yr would be much better for everyone!

With a catalogue that large, I might argue that quarterly auctions are warranted. Regardless, it's clear that REA has learned the value of effective marketing.
