Latest Goodwin

Just got the catalog today. Was interesting to see the m101-5 Thorpe with the Moorehouse back. To the best of my knowledge that now backs 3 known backs for Thorpe. The other interesting lot was the complete set of Delongs. It features most of the cards from my collection I sold in REA. The give away was the Gehrig and it's distinctive tape in the corners. I then checked the SGC #s on others and they match the ones I used to own. I'm guessing the consignor used my cards to finish off/upgrade their set.

The card that jumped out at me was the W600 Connie Mack. It's a beautiful set and I always take note when they come up for sale/auction.

I didn't remember seeing a Mack in my searches, so I will be eager to see how this one closes.

Jay you are correct, there have been three ad backs confirmed for Thorpe (plus the blank back). The only two remaining sets that would feature him are the ultra scarce Successful Farming and Holmes to Homes issues. I have seen JoeJax in each of those, so anything's possible.

I was counting the blank back. What other back is there besides F&B and Moorehouse?

Does anyone think the Morehouse Thorpe is underperforming thusfar?

I don't know...that thorpe..while rare...is pretty beaten!!!! Goodwin is all about the late action anyway...I'm sure it will sell for what it deserves...maybe 5-6K when it's all over!

Jay would know better than I on this one...I'm sure he'll chime in!

i know chris...it's crazy!!!! I just looked at the auction and there are so many common cards...in high grade for so much money comparatively...but honestly...I love rarities...like the thorpe morehouse...but the condition would make it a dealbreaker for me?!

Like that Wagner T206...no thanks!!!!! Even if I collected T206...and could afford a Wagner...I wouldn't even want that one!!!! It's just 3/4 of a card...it's not even a card anymore...in my mind!!!!!

When I saw the Thorpe, I was immediately reminded of the Tango Cobb we discussed last year.

That cobb was godawful!!!! Someone really needed it though!!!

The Thorpe is very rough. Even if it is the only known example with that back, I wouldn't want it as my first Thorpe card unless I planned on getting a blank back or an F&B.

Condition has become so overrated that it's underrated.
