What card would you buy with a budget of 10K
This question is totally hypothetical...I am not looking for ideas!!!!!!! What card...1 card would you buy if you were given 10K and had to spend it on 1 and only 1 vintage bb card?!?!?!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record....
E107 HOFer! Or a 1912 Boston Garter (would have to be a beater)
Obvi!

Lots of choices but I'd go with something like a Four Base Hit or K-Bat with a strong picture. 1912 Boston Garter under $10k would be awesome.
Re: What card would you buy with a budget of 10K
4BH for 10k would be sweet too.....but I'm afraid it would have to be in two pieces to fall within that price range. 20k budget would be more realistic for one of those IMO. They are awesome cards.

You could definitely pick up a nice Kbat though.

1916 Jimmy Claxton Zeenut. NO question. BTW, I have not seen one for sale in a couple years. Does anyone want to part with his/hers? I'd sell a kidney for that card!

I recall a Claxton Zeenut that was ended early on ebay, maybe 5 years ago. I heard that it sold for a song (like $1000) compared to what it would have gone for if the auction had run its course...
Edit: how about this one? http://www.robertedwardauctions.com/auction/2011/524.html

We kind of already had this thread, but I think if you stretch the price range to 15-18k that is more interesting stuff.

Keeping the the price low keeps it more interesting. Why not make it $1 million. Then you could pick anything but The Card for that money.

Anson or Delehanty
Don't know what issue but one of those guys.

Re: What card would you buy with a budget of 10K
all the old 10k cards i liked are now 20k+ (ruth rookie, t206 plank, w600 cobb,e107 delahanty?). i've owned most of the cards i like that are now worth 10k. one dream card i've never owned is an n173 delahanty, so maybe a nice AUT/trimmed/altered example of that card.
if u guys say the dela is over 10k, i'd like the e103 wagner or e104 nadja back wagner...that portrait is the logo for our hobby.

Why not a hundred dollars then? That would be even more interesting as there would be far more options.

tough to find anything memorable hof-related for 10k these days in nice condition (net54: a t206 cobb psa 7 is way cool, me: barf), you can barely get an e94 cobb VG/EX for 10k. maybe try to get lucky with a black swamp wagner or cobb.

Well, I just bought the Frank Chance Ass Card from Blair for $100 and maybe I wanted to show it off!

Okaaaaayy, fine, to take your question seriously. I would go 19th Century, but not Kbats. K-bats suck, just my opinion. For a rare card, you could go for a nice-looking common from Hess or YumYum. Otherwise, I would go with a n172 Cap Anson SGC 60 which I believe sold at REA for 8k a few years ago. It had a real strong image.

How can you think K-bats suck? They have some of the best photos from that era. The stadium shots and double player cards are hard to beat.

I like the Kbats portraits but otherwise not a fan. Don't care much for double player poses, and the stadium shots are aesthetically weak. That's just my take.

Yeah it is, but if I have a little extra money I may start a type collection of France Chance's Butt. It's nice to have at least one of them, anyways.
