What Hockey cards do you own?
I figured since this is a new category and heavy baseball right now I thought it would be interesting to see what hockey cards we own or none at all.
I use to collect hockey cards as a kid. The first time I ever saved up to buy a box I bought a box of 78-79 hockey cards. Had to throw all the wrappers in a window well under addition on our home so Mom wouldn't now I bought the box. Found the wrappers in there years later when Mom decided to sell the house. Syl Apps is still one of my favorite names of all time.
The only hockey card I own is a part of the Sanella set:

Hi Lee,
Cool card!
I collected hockey sets as they came out when I was a kid/teen (later '70s into the '80s) and I still have those cards. But I currently actively collect pre-war hockey and lacrosse.

Just because you can never see this card enough

1969-70 was first year I remember us buying hockey cards. My favorite was finally getting Gump Worsley who was goalie for the North Stars at the time and last goalie not to wear a mask. Gives Yogi a run for ugliest mug in sports history.

Haven't opened that box in years, not sure.
Not much pre-70s though.

Just completed '77-'78 WHA and '81-'82 Topps last year. Currently upgrading star cards on my OPC & Topps sets (1976-77 thru 1989-90). Just started working on the 1952-53 St. Lawrence Sales Quebec Senior Hockey League set (13/108). After that I'd like to put together the '74-'75, '75-'76, and '76-'77 WHA sets.

I'm even considering putting together a 1990 Pro-Set set. Pretty much worthless, but it's always been one of my favorites.

Re: What Hockey cards do you own?
Anyone remember the big craze for the 1989-90 Upper Deck French version. Supposedly only 135 cases. Boxes were selling for $700+. I managed to snag case at $150 box before the craze and cleaned up. You knew there had to be something wrong with the numbers when there were supposed to be only 135 cases and almost every dealer in SCD had a case or boxes for sale.
Re: What Hockey cards do you own?
I do. The hype surrounding the French/Canadian versions of Upper Deck and Score was ridiculous. Now the English/French versions are worth the same - next to nothing. I still love 'em though. You can never have enough Score Martin Brodeurs.

Re: What Hockey cards do you own?
my hockey collecting days were as a kid, 1987-1993 range. Growing up in Edmonton AB I was a huge Oilers and Gretzky fan. My dream was always to have a Gretzky rookie, even in poor condition, but never managed to score one until my rebirth in collecting vintage baseball in around 2001. I've sold off most of my stuff that had value (50's parkies and topps, some of the better rookies from the 60's and 70's). Not surprisingly, I still have a TON of Opeechees, Topps, Score, Upper Deck, Pro Set, Pinnacle, Fleer Ultra sitting in the basement of my parents house.
