Anyone here using facebook?

I do, but not all that much really. If any of you 'regular' guys want to friend me, go for it. And on the other hand, if no one does, I won't be offended. Or sad. Sad

The forum has a page on FB. It's a good jumping off point to find people that are on the board here.

Hey Eric-

I was just going to say that I think I needed to be logged in for the link to work. Odd, but I discovered it after I posted the link the other day. Anyway, got it and got you back. BTW, I saw your pic from Puerto Rico in another thread...I'm going to PR for the first time at the end of the month, staying at a Marriott in San Juan for four days. Let me know if you have any tips on things to do.

Jay- I found the FC group and joined.

PR is amazing. My wife and I were there for 4 days, and we fell in love with the island. What a great place. Can't wait to go back.

As far as things to do, there's quite a bit to do in and around San Juan. We stayed at the Intercontinental which has a small casino in the hotel. The beaches are just amazing and the water is warm and crystal clear.

If there is one thing that's a must do, on your first trip it would be a visit to Old San Juan. You can get on public transportation for 25 cents and it will get you there from anywhere in San Juan. You just have to know which bus takes you there. If you decide to go, be sure to get passes for both of the old forts. It's some very cool history. Also in Old San Juan, a really great place to eat is the OLD HARBOR BREWERY. It's the only microbrewery on the island and their beers are very tasty. Seems like Medalla Light and Coors Light are the local favorites down there, so it was nice to get a taste of something else.

If you plan to go away from San Juan, I recommend a visit to the El Yunque rainforest. It's about a 45 minute drive from San Juan, but the scenery is beautiful. Many of the locals go there to picnic, and you'll see many people along the way swimming in the streams, rapids, and waterfalls. I had a great time here.

For food.....there isn't a better place then the Metropole. It's located right next to a cockfighting arena, and was within walking distance from our hotel. They are a PR/Cuban cuisine restaurant and the prices are very reasonable. The rice and beans are fantastic, as is the mofongo. And the Sangria there was the best I've ever had. Every time I have a pitcher of sangria now days, I always compare it to the stuff from Metropole. Can't find anything comparable.

Thanks for the info, Eric. Since we're only there for four days I think we're going to stick around San Juan, and definitley make it into Old San Juan. Other than that we'll likely end up in the water a few times and the rest will be hanging, doing nothing, and eating. Will check out the Metropole for sure.
