Re: June Pickups
Congrats Lee! I know you've been wanting that card for a while. Seems like it's been a good pickup month for the board.
June was also very good to me. As soon as I get the rest of mine that I'm waiting on, I'll post 'em.

Re: June Pickups
If Lee's card turns up missing on Thursday, it wasn't me. I'll be in town for the funeral of my best friend's father.
Re: June Pickups
Awesome Lee! I am totally envious of that card!

Re: June Pickups
The Ewing mascot card was one I was always looking for in the 80s but never found one, same for Thorpe. Push comes to shove, Thorpe wins ever time. He ain't going anywhere unless someone makes me an insane offer.

Nice T206 Cicotte pick up, or is it a T207? I always confuse those two issues...

Yeah - another great "authentication" by PSA!

Re: June Pickups
Thanks all, definately one of my favorites (and most expensive) pick ups of all time.
I hope that "Rear" was not his real nickname, that would be tough to live down.

Hey Lee,
It is one of my juvenile tendencies...any time the word "admiral" is used, I turn it into a "rear admiral" joke .

Nice Brandon! If your going to own 1 pin, a Cobb is the way to go. Congrats on the pickup. As for a grade....I have no idea. To me, I always think they are lower then the grade PSA gives these things. In other words I can't figure it out (I'm no expert).

No clue about the grade either, but I think it's a really nice pin. Good pickup!

Re: June Pickups
I wouldn't worry about the grade. The P2 set is like the OJ set, collectors don't look at the grade. They are more worried about clarity of picture, is the back paper in tact, foxing, etc that grading companies usually don't consider.
Re: June Pickups
I think with things like pins and OJ's, most collectors do care about the grade, it's just less of a deciding factor in card value than with other sets. You'll see high grade OJ's get big values, but they'll go for more/less than the assigned grade depending upon image contrast. Like an SGC 84 common might average $1000, but could go for $1300 if it has a fabulous picture contrast but only $700 if it's really faded. It could be the same type of thing with the pins, but I'm less sure.
