Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
For those of you new here, last season came down to a 7 game game championship series between the Oppie Dildocks and the Dominican Canucks.

We've added one more team, DirtyDirtyJim's enters the St Louis Cardinals
Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
How do starters typically fair as relievers in this simulation?
Is it generally better to select players who were historically relievers to fill the RP slots on your roster?

Is the SIM based on career stats, a player's best season, a player's best five seasons?

Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
The player's numbers are derived from a 10 year span.
Pitchers are rated for whatever role they performed. If they never started, they will have no endurance and tire easily. If a starter never pitched relief, than he won't do well. Even if he has some relief appearances, if they are limited the sim takes this into account. So yes, it's much better to select a true relief pitcher for the closer role if that is how you want to set up your team.

Followup question. The rules state a player has to have been a 'rookie' prior to 1996 and that the player ratings are based on a 10 year average. Does this mean that if you draft a '93 or '94 rookie ... players like Jeter and A-Rod come to mind ... their ratings are based only on average of what they did through '96?

Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
The reason for the 1996 cutoff is that the data was created after the 2006 season. So someone who was a rookie in 1993 they would use the best 10 year run from 1993-2006

I need to give my brother a beating. I thought for sure Dihigo was going to make it back to me. He was last person I expected to take him since he already Satchell.
Some NeL data

This info is not necessarilly the most recent, but it was when the Sim was made.

You guys may want to give some thought to what ballpark you want your team to play in. I just need the stadium name and what year, as the fences tend to change from time to time.

Put me in for the smallest park which you have.
My pitchers can keep the ball in the park, can yours?
Wait. That's right! I have no pitchers.
Well, gimme a small park to motivate whoever I wind up with.

I'll see which of the Baker Bowls had the shortest fences.
Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
Is Toronto's Exhibition Stadium available? The one prior to the Skydome.
Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
Gil, I put you in the Baker Bowl circa 1929. Ben, I put you in Exhibition Stadium the year it opened.
Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
I posted on the roster thread, but I'll post here as well. I'd like Ebbets Field circa 1947.

Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
Isn't there a time limit on picks? Maybe we should pass over Jim for now, and he can make a replacement pick whenever he gets the chance?
Re: 2010 discussion and general smack talk
The time limit is 12 hours. Jim picked Ducky Medwick in place of Pujols. The next guy is up now
