Sniping services Empty Sniping services

Post by crazylocomerk Mon Mar 23, 2009 12:44 am

I've brought this up in the past, but I'm again looking for a free ebay sniping service, since my current one is always down (actually today it was taken down indefinitely....Blazingbid).

What is a good one out there? What do you use, and what are the perks?

Thanks in advance.

Bummer. I liked Blazingbid, but I don't remember the last time it's been functional. I use justsnipe.com, which offers five freebies a week. I think there's also a subscription service on the site, which offers unlimited snipes with a shorter lead time, but for my meager amount of eBaying the five are fine.

Thanks Jerry. I signed up today. What do you set your snipe at? I tried for 5 seconds, but they say they don't guarantee that it will work. Have you ever had an issue with this?

Thanks Steve,

I was a member of justsnipe, but didn't like it all that much. The 8 second snipe was too early, back when I was bidding frequently. I would always get beat out.

I only use Gavelsnipe and set it at 6 seconds....works everytime.

Only thing is...if you change your ebay password you need to change it at Gavelsnipe also.

Please elaborate, Eric.
It appears that the timing of the bidding (under 10 sec. prior to auction end time) has an impact on your liklihood of success. Is this true?

Just a curiosity.

For auctions that I bid on, it did actually impact my success rate. It may not make sense at all, but I was much more successful with blazingbid when they initiated my snipe with 5 seconds remaining, then I was with justsnipe when they initiated my bid with 8 seconds remaining.

Even if other bidders are not using a sniping program, 8 seconds is enough time to get a manual bid in before the auction ends. Using the 8 second bid initiation on justsnipe, I had to place higher ceiling bids in order to win an auction. And as Steve stated, Justsnipe only allows 5 snipes per week. That got annoying if you were shut out for the week in one night.

Is gavelsnipe free? If so, I might have to check it out. I've actually gone back to trying to snipe manually - it's just more fun that way. But if I know I'm not going to have eBay access, I'll set up an automated snipe. Five a week is plenty, but a shorter lead time would be kinda nice.

Exactly what Jerry said. And I'm already set up and have my first snipes set.

Well I used Gavelsnipe tonight, and all of my snipes went through at 6 seconds. It worked perfectly! Great program.

Thanks to all that helped with this.
