Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
Thanks. I always thought that Joe Cronin and Jim Bottomley looked kinda goofy in their poses in this set. Jim has his hat on sideways and Joe is making a weird face. Nonetheless, the HOF set is not complete without those two good players.

Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
lee freaking sweet cards...i'm warming up to those 19th cent issue. i'm also impressed by beckett grading lately, their cards have looked the best out of the big 3 in term of presentation. hopefully they've turned a corner and their cards stay underground pricewise.

Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
Thanks Eric, It's a semi-Annual Tri-Star Show in Houston. It's one of those autograph extravaganza's.
Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
Jerry, I knew you were old but I'm impressed with you pulling a Barber coin out of your pocket for the scan. Why didn't you keep those baseball cards from that era too?

Nice assortment Jerry, are you aware there is a collector (John Dreker I believe) that collects Larry Cochrane OJs?

Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
Thanks Guys
Jay, I dug that Barber quarter with my metal detector at an old Ghost town site
Lee, I understand why someone would collect him... I researched Corcoran's stats and for 5 yrs (Early 1880's) he was a dominate pitcher much like Koufax was in the middle 60's.
Check out this article on him, if you feel like it..I think you will be amazed at his 5 yr run.

Great looking cards, everyone! This has been a very productive month for me, here is my lastest addition:
I now own 8 of the 20 cards in the set.

Congrats on the Voskamp's, Zach
You sure come up with some Cool Cards

Re: January 2009 Pick-ups
Is it just me or is that pose of Griffith a little... odd.
I know it isn't unheard of for a baseball player to grab his crotch, but that looks like an unfortunate pose for that image.
Then again, perhaps I am just a bit too sophomoric in my thinking.

It's not you - it's the series' artist. Peckinpaugh's bat is totally phallic.

Look time no see from chefmike, welcome back and nice pickup.
Have you been cooking lots of frozen food in MN? It has been way too cold here in MN.

January 2009 pickups
Thanks for the kind words, Lee. I usually come to the site almost every night, it's just been a while since I've posted any of my cards so I thought that I would start by showing the Wagner. And yes, it's pretty cold where I'm at too (Rochester)
