E98 Young....

Post by Square_Frame_Ramly on Mon Dec 24, 2007 12:29 am

Wow...great card and looks like nothing higher than this SGC 80. Also has a green background, anyone think this went high or maybe it was on the low end. mallet

That's way too much for an Irv Young card. frustrated

I believe Scott Mosley has a higher graded SGC green Young in his ultra high grade set (that is nothing short of spectacular).

Jay is correct - the pic is Irv Young, not Cy, but that hasn't hurt the price evidently. Personally, I have always preferred rarity over condition or a condition rarity, but to each his/her own. beer

A kid could drink two gallons of milk a week, for every week of his (or her) life, until long after graduating high school; for the price of that card - at current milk costs.

No way is a baseball card worth $10K, imo.

hey mark i think it's a bit high...the 3rd bid was only 6.5k. of course when you outbid louchios (who's the runner up), you're gonna have to pay up. i do think the highest graded pushed the premium up on this one. scott m's is only a 50 although it's spectacular.

Quan, I haven't looked at Scott Mosley's E98's in while. If his Young is a 50, that has to be the lowest grade E98 in his collection I would think - isn't it? I know after the high grade E93 set sold for well over $300k, I told Scott Mosley I wouldn't take less than $500k for his E98 set, if I were him.

While I have spent over five figures for cards quite a few times, it has never been for a condition rarity. I recently spent around double what this Young cost for my SGC 40 Uzit Cobb, but was elated to obtain it for any price, as I have wanted a Uzit Cobb Bat Off Shoulder for over 12 years now. bananarama

scott we're talking about a nice irv young caramel vs a MF'N UZIT TY COBB! There's a big difference...of course you pay up for the uzit in any condition.

Sorry about that Quan - didn't mean to upset you on this Holiday. I am sure there are people who think I am crazy for paying what I did for the Uzit Cobb however. mallet TBH, I would have paid more! affraid I do know the seller was offered $40k for his PSA 4 Red Hindu Cobb (Red Portrait)! wow That is out of my league however. lol2 bow

Not that I doubt it, but given that bidder id's are now hidden, how is it that we know louchios was the underbidder? Just curious.

Quan, I had forgotten idontbelievewhatijustsaw was him. That is bad, as he has bought a few cards from me on eBay over the past couple of years.

Shows how I keep up with the Heavy Hitters in the Hobby though, as I knew he was tough to beat, but didn't know he was as huge as he is (buying wise - not saying he is obese or anything, as I have never seen him in person Razz ).

This does make me feel bad however. I beat him out on a few cards over the past year or so - guess I overpaid big time! frustrated

If you were willing to pay the price, then you didn't overpay.

ok, maybe Im missing something, but how do you know "idontbelievewhatijustsaw (647)" is the underbidder when the ebay id is concealed and all that appears is o**a (649)?
