Curt Schilling
For those that don't know, Curt used to be an avid player of EQ when it
first came out. I used to play at the same time late night every night
with a monk named Scythehands. We got to talking baseball one night and
he told me he was Curt Schilling. Being a smartass, I said if that's
true, leave tickets for me in a few weeks when you play the Giants. Sure
enough, there were tickets waiting for me. I eventually ended up
selling the remaining Lou Gehrig items I had in my collection. Mostly a
bunch a Conlon and Burke photos and some wirephotos.

With their fifteenth round pick Pray For Rain selects out of St John's University Pitcher John Franco.
Re: ROUNDS 1-24 (merged)
I was following in Todd's footsteps and didn't want to make him feel bad. I will take the iron man of the bullpen: Mike Marshall.

I am absolutely flummoxed. You have no idea how much I had that guy penciled into my lineup--I was sure he would go unnnoticed, perhaps for another three rounds. Now I'm skittish--thanks.

FRED CLARKE.
BTW Jay, your Schilling/EverQuest story is very amusing - please repost in the bullpen for everyone to read
I have heard that he's a collector.

In this round
the Dreamers are thrilled to add the only pitcher to win back to back MVP awards, Hal Newhauser, 118-56 over a five year dominant stretch.
"He is smart and tough in any pinch," said the Yankees' Bill Dickey. Newhouser won two complete-game victories, including the seventh-game clincher, in the 1945 World Series against the Cubs. He engaged in many classic matchups with the Indians' Bob Feller, the dominant righthander of the era. The "big one," in Newhouser's words, came on the final day of the 1948 season, when he outpitched Feller on one day's rest to force Cleveland into a playoff with Boston for the AL title. The victory was a league-best 21st for Newhouser, but also marked the beginning of shoulder trouble that would limit his effectiveness after one more 18-victory season in 1949. Newhouser closed his career as Feller's teammate in 1954, when he won seven, saved seven, and appeared in one more World Series.

Yup, Lee took him in the 13th round. Jerry will need to change the pick.
Guys, I've been maintaining an updated list on this thread. Please do a search (command-f) of your player name on that thread to make sure he hasn't been picked already. Gil's alphabetical list is also handy in this regard.
