what the hell is going on in the hobby?

i don't know how many of you are following what is going on in the 50's-60's high grade rookie market these days. but it is insanity what some are "paying" for these cards.

some think there is blatant market manipulation going on...some have even gone on net54 and started that they were manipulating markets on some cards.

others feel that cards like a mint nolan ryan rookie card should be worth supercar money. and a pete rose rookie pristine selling for oceanfront property money. that there are just enough rich fuckers yearning for nostalgia that are driving this?

meanwhile many of the big players over there...mainly a few big ebay sellers and the big bossman continue to laugh and joke about conspiracy theories and such all the while somehow benefitting from the nonsense.

could jbonie have been right after all?

i dont really know what to think other than this is utter lunacy if people are in fact paying these absurd prices for somewhat common cards.

what do y'all think is happening?

I believe some threads across the street are started for the sole purpose of gauging market interest, and for maximum shill. "How much will this go for?" etc, it's quite fishy. The $1000 and $500 threads were particularly disturbing.

Not just baseball, Jim Brown rookies have been selling for ridiculous money as opposed to just 12 months ago. Recent sales of PSA 8's have been 16-20K, last I checked there are 180 PSA 8's. Not exactly a rare card, though a great player. I'd imagine this scenario would benefit anyone holding a PSA 9 that is going to be released into the market, buy 2 or 3 PSA 8 Jim Brown's at ridiculously inflated prices and flip your 9 for a boat load more than it would have gone for just two months before.

Sounds like the same people that poo-poo'd the big auction house problems that turned out to be true have their heads in the sand on this one too.

15 years ago I said condition rarity was a stupid reason to pay big money for a card. I still believe that. I just can't imagine there are enough whales out there to drive that market. Sounds more like the old SCD ad scam of some major dealers of running inflated buy prices that were never honored to justify inflated selling prices ards they bought cheap.

haha i find it very funny.  if you're a true collector just wait a few years for these people to get bored, the cards will still be there at reasonable prices don't worry.

i completely agree with ty...are there any hobby people left over there, or prewar cards?  all i see are shilling threads about post war cards, people trumpeting high grade psa sales, ebay watching high grade rollie fingers rookies, wondering about the next good rookie investment (canseco!, puckett!).  just very little substance left over there, i'm bored!

i miss jamie, hope he's doing ok and taking his meds. some of his views are interesting, he could be mr robot with all the crazy things going on in the world today.

About what is occurring in the hobby, I think that the facts speak for themselves and you can draw whatever conclusions that you wish.

I do still believe that my life is in danger, and I am under the protection of the FBI. They protect me by watching me and watching the criminals to ensure that nothing happens.

However, the problem with having a Big Brother is that the FBI gets abusive when they don't like what I do or say. This ranges from everything from personal arguments with family, or statements of my progressive political ideals on Facebook, such as standing up for the rights of black or Muslim people, or denouncing the War on Drugs.

Part of being under surveillance is that they know all my personal data and medical problems, and they have preyed upon them through medical malpractice and other forms of harassment.

It is difficult to prove, and they generally function with impunity. No judge or jury wishes to end up on the wrong end of an aggravated FBI, as I have from annoying them enough times with my views of the world.

Part of the FBI's involvement in the hobby is constant surveillance. In fact, when I visited this website, my phone alerted to a virus that monitors all my personal information.

I'm using a sophisticated device called a Black phone that employs an enhanced level of security by overlapping additional security features over the standard Android OS.

It means that if you are reading this, your device is probably also compromised without your knowing it. My belief is that it is the FBI's means of ensuring that everyone is under constant surveillance as they conduct their investigation.

I no longer collect baseball cards and have sold every card I have ever posted online here or elsewhere. Whether you believe me or not is of little personal consequence.
