Joe Jackson Cracker Jack card

Hello to all. First, I am not a collector, nor, do I know anything about Baseball cards. Long story short. My Grandfather passed 17 years ago, and I inhereted his possesions. His old safe has sat in my office since I finally got it opened. His Bible, knives, handguns, books, and papers were inside. Last week my Son was looking at the old books, and found a baseball card being used as a page marker. It is a Joe Jackson #103 Cracker Jack card. I have searched the internet for info, and found a ton of fakes, and reprints. I would like to know how to tell if it is real, or a reprint. I have studied real ones shown, and the info on the back of the card matches all the real ones right down to the printing. Any suggestions. Thanks for your time, and patience.

Can you take a picture of the front and back and post it here? We should be able to help you if you do that.

The "host an image" button and "image" button immediately above the reply (next to "bold", "italics", "underline", etc.) make it pretty simple once you have a scan / photo of the card.

Also, when sharing the card, please note whether the printing is "right side up" or "upside down" on the back. This will help to differentiate between 1914 and 1915 Cracker Jack cards.

As for authenticity, after seeing the scan / photo, we'll probably be able to let you know.

Quickest and easiest way to tell if you have an original card or not is look at the area where Jackson's uniform touches the edge. There is no white ink used so check the area where the red forms a "V" on the right side. The color of the uniform in that area should be the same as the boarder with no line separating them.

Unfortunately, I think it has exceptionally little chance of being authentic. The color on the front doesn't look quite right, but the more convincing is the back. Given that the back is printed "right side up" it would be a 1914 Cracker Jack. These cards were on very thin stock and inserted directly adjacent to the Cracker Jack candy. Accordingly, most of the 1914 cards have caramel stains on them. The complete absence of any caramel staining and the thicker stock (evidenced by the degree of paper loss on the back) means it isn't authentic. Sorry.

Broken hearted I'm not. it was Pop's, and that is more valuable to me. As far as finding a large cash "discovery". The Luger's and trible lock S&W's more than took care of that. LOL Thanks again.

Card is a reproduction. The give away is the area where the jersey meets the border. Real Cracker Jacks don't have white ink, so any place where a white uniform touches the boarder should be seamless since there is no ink in the white areas of the uniform.

I was able to put the pics of my Joe Jackson on my album on here, but thats all I was able to do. By hearing the replies about the other cracker jack cards on here, mine sounds pretty good. I didn't see much of any jersey line on my card and the colors look right. Hope you can give me some insight.

that's a bad fake, sorry ted. you can see how the jersey color "cream" is not the same as the border. on legit CJs they blend seamlessly
