Greatest cards of all-time Empty Greatest cards of all-time

Fun little article/app that is ranking what they think are the 20 greatest cards of all-time. I know most of us would have serious disagreements with a lot of the selections. The way the voting works is that you vote thumbs up with you think the position is right or should be higher and thumbs down if you think it is ranked too high.

Major omissions from the list, n172 Anson in uniform, e107 Mathewson and Wagner and many others I am forgetting. Sorry, but 41 PB DiMaggio, 55 Clemente, 54 Aaron and t3 Cobb don't belong on the list.

I think with the title "Greatest" you have to take into consideration popularity instead of rariety and or value.  Take for instance the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle.  A truly great card that is common as dirt, double printed.

I agree with a lot of the aforementioned "20 greratest cards of all time."  From a perspective of significance relating to the hobby over the years...def more geared towards less hard core collectors.

The one I'd remove from the list is the clemente rookie.  Sure numerous other contenders could easily be substituted for some...and honestly for a generic list such as this I'm surprised a 33 goudey ruth isn't there?

You could easily substitute an e103 matty or wags over the e90-1 joe jackson...point is it's a list of greatest cards for the mainstream...not necessary the hard core collectors as we are.

I'm with r337man on this. Too much of an emphasis here on commercial rather than artistic/design value. The Wagner is a perfect example. Sure it's possibly the most valuable card out there, but aesthetically it's fairly blah. I'd put about 20 cards from that single set in front of it just in terms of eye appeal.

The Baseball Card Hall of Fame is still alive and kicking. I just haven't gotten around to doing another nomination/vote. I'd like to see a little more traffic from new people before I do it again.

Sadly I don't think I have any left, only the old foggies that have been collecting since the 1960s and do not participate in chat.

Come on Dan, you have more friends than that. Or at least people you know across the street that might be willing to participate here. You do have influence with people.

Yea bad influence maybe Smile

I thought for sure just being opened up here would have a few wonder over from time to time

I would suggest any new patrons here to also join NET54 as well

I would like to see the 2 boards co-exist in a friendly manner

Let it be known that I am here not for any ill will against Leon though I am sure he takes it that way.

We've never had a problem with people participating on both boards. Each has it's niche to fill. Even though we don't talk t206s much here, we don't discourage. It's just that most of the long time regulars here have already done the t206 thing and moved on to other challenges. So were a good base of t206 knowledge.

Sadly, a few of our regular contributors have left collecting over the past few years. New registrations are steady. Just not sure why they don't participate. Hope fully for the new activity we will get more people to join in.

That is good Jay, I think it is just smart to co-exist.

I would like to do one better than "not discourage" by encouraging any new members that may find us first to also join the giant NET54 board.  The more members on both boards the merrier.

And exactly as you said, both have unique differences to offer in good ways.
