Darn, No 1890 US Census!
Ran across this article about an 1890 California census record keeper/ baseball fanatic, who registered every professional and amateur ballplayer "in that part of the State" as a resident of the small town, Petaluma. Thought to be the most comprehensive list of over 300 ballplayers in the area....

Can't imagine where this list is now, but would be interesting.... 1890 US census records were damaged by fire in 1921 & destroyed in 1935.
