Monte Ward
Just a quick note, according to our rules, it would seem that Monte Ward would not qualify as a pitcher in this game. I have that he played 293 of his 1872 games at Pitcher, which is less than 25%.
Thanks,
J

Re: Monte Ward
i was gonna draft him as a pitcher but looking at his stats didn't feel he has enough time.

Re: Monte Ward
could still be a serviceable back-up middle infielder, though.

Re: Monte Ward
Years ago I went with some fantastic nineteenth century pitchers, and they got creamed.
I no longer take anyone in the nineteenth century now.

Re: Monte Ward
I'm not sure how all this works, it is interesting.
Is it correct that a guy needs 25% to be defensively rated at a position? So for hitters if you don't have 25% at a position, then you automatically will have a zero rating at that position, and you certainly can play it, but you will get a ton of errors. In other words, you can force Babe Ruth to play shortstop, but the errors will come flooding in.
I'm not sure how it works for pitchers, but it seems to me that anyone listed in the SIM can pitch (hitters and pitchers). How well they will pitch is another question. I know from last year not to have Hack Wilson take the mound, yikes.

Re: Monte Ward
You guys are, he doesn't meet the standard for pitching. I always think of him as pitcher because of his perfect game. The sim will use him as a pitcher if there is no one else available.
