So I think my Chinese restaurant keeps my card on file...

Post by BigGuy219 on Mon Jul 30, 2012 11:58 pm

I've been ordering from this Chinese restaurant for 3 years.

We're a cashless society now, so I always use my debit card.

For the past few months whenever I tell them, "I'd like to put it on my card," the guy who takes my order is always like, "yeah, yeah, yeah" and is clearly not paying attention.

Two weeks ago I had a friend over and we used her card, but my card got billed instead, despite my reading off the other number.

Last week he hung up before I could even give him my expiration date, yet no problem charging me.

And tonight as I'm reading off my card number I broke down laughing while I was reading it, because I could tell he couldn't care less.

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

I'd be worried. Even though they may be honest, if thieves break in and steal this file with all their customers CC #s they are going to make a fortune.

I would not worry until you can say "the usual" in Cantonese.

Greasy, salty, fatty Chinese food is the greatest culinary creation ever conceived by man. If I had to choose between protecting my credit card info or the food, I'd go with the food.

Blah....I had the worst chinese dinner of my life in NYC a few nights ago, right near Times Square. I got Crispy Duck, my gf got Lo Mein. So heavy and greasy with no veggies at all. Not to mention a giant cockroach crawled under our table just before the food arrived (gf squashed it and had them clean it up)

Give me Vietnamese or Thai or Cambodian....can't beat a big bowl of Pho, my post-workout favorite.

my family owned a pho store a couple years back, surprisingly i'm still not sick of it (one pho bowl is almost 2 big macs tho if u drink all the soup depending on the chef). we took a trip to phnom peng and angkor wat a couple years back, but the tour guide only took us to the buffets with viet(?) food, i don't think viet and cambodia have similar dishes.

thai is pretty much the bomb. and yes my least favorite is chinese. we're not living the high life tasting cutting edge fusion of chinese food iron chef style but i always find chinese to be very heavy and greasy (even dim sum). maybe fullcount gotta hit shanghai or guangzhou for some real authentic chinese food.

Sadly, the best Chinese in SF got shut down earlier this year. Sam Wo's was a famous hole-in-the-wall with a famously rude waiter. You had to walk into the kitchen to get to the stairs where the seating was upstairs. You got huge portions for a small price and it was cheap. Not greasy at all. Me and my roomies used to eat there 4 or 5 days a week. The only drink was tea so if you wanted something else you had to buy it at one of the nearby stores. I really wanted to be able to take Mona there. She'll just have to settle for the garlic-garlic pasta at Cafe Pisa and some ice cream from Mitchell's.

SE Asian is too expensive!!

I'll spend $14,000 on cards if I have to, but I'll be damned if I'll spend $14 on noodles!!

all this food talk is making me hungry, taking the family out for some tom yum kung and spicy mango salad.
